17-year-old shot multiple times, dead in District Heights, dad shot inside home

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD – The Homicide Unit of the Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in a home in the unincorporated section of District Heights on Wednesday.

The victim, 17-year-old Nia Johnson of District Heights, was discovered inside the home with gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Her father was also found in the home suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Preliminarily, this incident appears to be domestic-related.


Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the source of the firearm and the motive. No outstanding suspects are believed to be at large. Police did not release any information regarding arrests made.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is working with the State’s Attorney’s Office regarding the potential for charges to be filed.
