NEW YORK CITY, NY – On Monday, May 1, a man known as Neely, who’s full name was Jordan Neely, recognized for his performances as a Michael Jackson impersonator, died following a physical altercation on a Manhattan subway.
The New York City medical examiner’s office has ruled the death a homicide.
Witnesses reported that the altercation involved Neely and a 24-year-old man, Penny. Neely, who was expressing distress and hunger, was placed in a chokehold by Penny for approximately 15 minutes.
Witnesses also reported Neely was harassing and threatening passengers on the train.
Penny, a West Islip High School graduate and Marine Corps veteran who was not immediately arrested following the incident, but was arrainged on Friday.
Funeral services for Neely are scheduled for next Friday, May 19, at Mount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem.
