Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation by Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office

PASSAIC, NJ – Following an incident of firearm discharge by a Passaic police officer, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced on Thursday, that her office would conduct the mandatory review required by New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, near the train station at Passaic Avenue and Lackawanna Place. An officer responded to a report of a man discharging a firearm in the area and engaged the suspect, striking him with gunfire. The suspect was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No officers or civilians were injured during the incident.

The investigation is in accordance with state law and the attorney general’s guidelines, aiming to ensure the investigation’s impartiality.
