Newark Police Request Assistance in Identifying Armed Robbery Suspects

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Public Safety Department is calling on the public’s help to identify two suspects involved in an armed robbery on Sunday.

At approximately 5:25 p.m., police responded to an incident at Lyons Plaza, located in the 400 block of Lyons Avenue. The victim was selling Mother’s Day cards and gifts on the sidewalk when one of the suspects approached him from behind with a weapon and demanded money.

The suspect forcefully took $600 from the victim’s hand and fled the scene with the other suspect in a four-door, tan-colored 2011 Hyundai Sonata bearing Pennsylvania license plate LCZ4466. The vehicle was captured on surveillance video traveling northbound on Fabyan Place.

The first suspect is described as a Black male, wearing black sweatpants, a white T-shirt, white sneakers, and a black surgical mask. The second suspect, also a male with a medium build, was seen wearing dark-colored blue jeans, a grey sweatshirt with a hood, white sneakers, and a surgical mask.


The Newark Public Safety Department is urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspects to come forward.
