Public Assistance Requested in Identifying Robbery Suspect

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Public Safety Director, Fritz G. Fragé, is asking for public assistance in identifying a male suspect involved in a business robbery last Friday.

At around noon, the police received a report of a robbery at the Metro PCS located at 494 Springfield Avenue. According to the report, a male entered the store, demanded cell phones from the two employees while simulating a gun concealed within his jacket pocket. The individual managed to steal six iPhones after coercing the employees to open the safe, and then fled the scene on foot, heading east on Springfield Avenue towards Kent Street and Brenner Street.

The suspect has been described as a Black male of dark complexion, approximately 5’8″ in height, with dreadlocks and sparse facial hair, last seen in all-black attire. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the identification of the suspect.
