Unidentified Duo Sought for Robbery at 50th Street Subway Station

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department has released details of an incident involving an attempted robbery in the Transit District 1 and the Midtown North Precinct. The incident took place on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at around 5:00 am.

According to the report, a 36-year-old male was accosted by two unidentified individuals while ascending a staircase inside the 50th Street subway station. The suspects, brandishing a box cutter, forcibly took the victim’s wallet and then coerced him to a nearby ATM. Their attempt to withdraw money from the victim’s bank accounts proved unsuccessful. The two suspects were last seen disappearing into the 50th Street subway station. The victim, who sustained no injuries, declined medical assistance at the scene.

The first suspect is described as a male aged between 20 and 30 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, of dark complexion, and slim build. He was last seen in a black balaclava, black bubble jacket, black sweatpants labeled “Supreme” in white on the leg, and black and white sneakers. He was carrying a black book bag.


The second suspect, also estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old, is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, of light complexion, with a medium build and light facial hair. His last known attire was a blue denim jacket with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath, black sweatpants with a white stripe along the legs, and black and white sneakers. He was last seen carrying a black cross body bag across his chest.

The New York City Police Department encourages anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
