Delaware State police investigating armed robbery at gas Station in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DE – The Delaware State Police are currently conducting an investigation into an attempted armed robbery that took place at a BP gas station in New Castle Wednesday night.

At around 8:07 p.m., two individuals entered the convenience store of the BP gas station situated at 2038 New Castle Avenue and approached the clerk.

One of the suspects demanded that the clerk leave the area behind the counter.


When the clerk refused, the same suspect aimed a handgun at the clerk and attempted to grab them through the counter window.

The employee immediately contacted 9-1-1 to report the robbery. Both suspects then fled the store on foot.

Responding troopers were unable to locate the suspects in the surrounding vicinity, neither individual was apprehended.

The 44-year-old clerk did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

Both suspects had their faces concealed at the time. Currently, surveillance footage and images related to the incident are not yet available to the media.

The Troop 2 Robbery Unit is handling the investigation of this incident. Detectives are urging anyone with relevant information about this case to reach out to Detective J. Dempsey at 302-365-8472.
