Two arrested on Serious Charges in Absecon

ABSECON, NJ – Two people were arrested during routine traffic stops in separate incidents in Absecon this week for some serious crimes.

Absecon police conducted a motor vehicle stop on U.S. Route 30 on Tuesday. During the investigation, a significant quantity of narcotics, suspected to be cocaine and numerous wax folds believed to be heroin, were discovered.

The amount and weight of the narcotics, along with other evidence, indicated involvement in narcotic distribution. The driver, Leroy W. Clark, was subsequently arrested, charged, and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.


Police arrested Leroy W. Clark, 43, from Ewing, with 1st Degree possession with intent to distribute cocaine, 3rd degree possession with intent to distribute heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, officers responded to a report of an assault at the Home Depot. Patrol officers learned that a male sitting inside a vehicle was approached by another male who forcibly entered the vehicle.

A struggle ensued, during which the accused assaulted the victim and briefly gained control of the victim’s car. The victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

Absecon Police arrested the accused, Trent Heinrichs, 19, of Manahawkin, and charged him with 1st degree carjacking, 2nd degree aggravated assault, 4th degree aggravated assault on police, 4th degree obstruction and resisting arrest.
