BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. – Gerrmaioud Chape, a self-employed man residing in Rochelle Park, is facing charges related to theft by deception, theft, and forgery, as reported by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit launched an investigation into Chape’s actions in January 2023. The investigation revealed that Chape, through his company, 10 Percent Group, LLC, engaged in mortgage-related fraud. He falsely claimed ownership of properties to solicit investment funds from victims, supporting his claims with fraudulent mortgage documents.

Chape was arrested without incident on Thursday, at his residence during a search operation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Rochelle Park Police Department. He has been released on his own recognizance, pending a future Central Judicial Processing Court hearing.
