25-year-old injured in shooting Saturday night

Greenbelt, MD – Detectives with the Greenbelt Police Department are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred Saturday night, at approximately 6:32 pm.

The investigation was initiated after a 25-year-old man arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound, stating that he had been shot during an attempted carjacking in the 6200 block of Springhill Drive.

Upon receiving the report, GPD officers promptly responded to the scene mentioned by the victim. The area has been cordoned off as investigators work diligently to gather evidence and gain a comprehensive understanding of the events that transpired.

At present, the victim’s injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening, providing some relief amidst the seriousness of the incident.


Preliminary descriptions of the suspects involved in the attempted carjacking have been provided. The first suspect is described as a light-skinned black male dressed entirely in black, while the second suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male wearing a white hoodie. The latter suspect may have low-cut hair or twists. Identifying and locating these individuals is of paramount importance to the ongoing investigation.
