Toms River, NJ – An unidentified Toms River Intermediate School North employee is currently under investigation following allegations of “inappropriate behavior” by one of its employees, according to district officials.

In a letter addressed to families and staff of the intermediate school on Sunday, Superintendent Michael Citta informed them that the district had been notified about the allegations involving the conduct of an employee.

The letter stated that upon learning of the allegations, the employee in question was immediately removed from the school premises. Additionally, all relevant information has been handed over to law enforcement authorities for further investigation.

The letter did not disclose the nature of the alleged inappropriate behavior, nor did it specify whether the employee involved is a teacher or holds another position within the school. The exact timing of when the district became aware of the allegations was also not mentioned. District officials referred any additional inquiries to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office declined to comment on the matter, citing an ongoing criminal investigation.

Superintendent Citta emphasized that the investigation is currently active and encouraged anyone with information related to the case to come forward. Individuals can contact either the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office or the Toms River Police Department for further assistance. The prosecutor’s office can be reached at 732-929-2027, while the Toms River police can be contacted at 732-349-0150.

Citta reassured the community that the safety and well-being of the students remain the district’s utmost priority. Any necessary support needed by the affected individuals will be made available to them during this time.

As the investigation progresses, more details may be unveiled.
