13-year-old shot at Staten Island playground Friday, Died at hospital

Staten Island, NY – A 13-year-old who was shot in the head while hanging out with friends on a basketball court in Staten Island on Friday has died from his injuries.

Jamoure Harrell, was with friends at Reverend Doctor Maggie Howard Playground in the Clifton section of Staten Island when gunfire rang out at around 3:45 pm on Friday. When the panic subsided, Harrell was lying on the ground with a bullet wound to his head.

Police responded to multiple 911 calls from the nearby Stapleton NYC Housing Authority complex.


When police arrived, they discovered the 13-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the injured boy to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition.

On Monday, Harrell succumbed to his injuries. He was  an 8th grader and attended the Eagle Academy nearby.

Police are now investigating the incident as a homicide, but no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made. Police said the shooting was targeted and believe they may have a lead on the suspect.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the shooting or the individuals responsible for the death of Jamoure Harrell to come forward. Any details, even seemingly insignificant, could significantly assist the ongoing investigation.
