Six Injured in Toms River crash after Driver loses control on Route 9

TOMS RIVER, NJ – A driver, whose first name is Elvis lost control of his vehicle on Route 9 at the intersection of Cox Cro Road, caused a motor vehicle crash that sent six people to the hospital, some with serious injures.

Police were dispatched to Route 9, in the vicinity of Hecht Drive, on Sunday following a traffic collision. The incident occurred around 7:40 PM.

The Toms River Police Department’s initial investigation suggests that Elvis Guadalupe Dominguez Avila, whose address remains unknown, was traveling southbound on Route 9 when he lost control of his vehicle.


As a result, his vehicle collided with an oncoming vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway and into a driveway exit, where it subsequently struck a third vehicle.

Emergency medical services promptly arrived at the scene, and all six occupants involved in the three vehicles were transported to various hospitals for medical treatment. The injured individuals were taken to Monmouth Medical South, Community Medical Center, and three of them were admitted to Jersey Shore Medical University.

The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is being conducted jointly by the Toms River Traffic Safety Unit and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. At this stage, specific charges related to the incident are pending further investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or possesses additional information regarding the events leading up to it to come forward and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
