Woman Sentenced for First-Degree Assault in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY, NY – Evelyn Lopez of Spring Valley has been recently sentenced to nine years in state prison by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.

Convicted on February 8, for Assault in the First Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Lopez received the sentencing following a three-week jury trial before Judge Larry J. Schwartz.

The charges stem from an incident on Thursday, March 10, 2022. The victim was assaulted as she was entering her vehicle after closing her restaurant for the evening.

Lopez approached the victim pretending to need medical assistance, before stabbing her multiple times. Officers from the Spring Valley Police Department, Town of Ramapo Police Department, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
