Fatal Shooting at Newark Housing Complex Under Investigation

NEWARK, NJ – Early Monday morning, the Newark Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the Riverside Court housing development, located at 147 Riverside.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with a bullet wound to his chest. The victim was quickly transported to University Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead shortly after his arrival. A second individual was found with a gunshot wound to his hand and is anticipated to make a full recovery.

No arrests have been made and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
