Kasey was identified as the shooter less than twenty-four hours after the crime, thanks to an investigation led by Detective Brian Carriere of the Harrisburg Bureau of Police.

The incident occurred while Beamon, Kasey, and another man were walking in the Allison Hill section of Harrisburg City. Kasey fled the day following the shooting and was captured in Lubbock, Texas, in January 2022.

He also faced felony charges of possession of a firearm by a former felon and carrying a firearm without a license. His sentencing is set for June 26, 2023.
