NYPD says delivery workers being targeted in citywide robbery pattern

NEW YORK, NY – A series of robberies targeting delivery workers in the 10th, Midtown North, and 6th Precincts have prompted the New York City Police Department to seek public assistance. The department released details of three incidents, involving similar robbery patterns, which occurred in May 2023.

The first incident took place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at around 5:15 am. The victim, a 73-year-old man, was at the back of his delivery truck near 456 West 18 Street when he was confronted by three men who displayed a firearm and assaulted him. The robbers took the man’s wallet and $700 before fleeing the scene in a SUV. The victim was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.

Ten days later, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, a similar incident occurred at around 5:20 am at 233 West 46 Street. A 69-year-old man was making a delivery when he was approached by three men. After demanding his property and assaulting him, the men took the victim’s wallet containing $90 and fled in a sedan. The man declined medical attention.


On Friday, May 12, 2023, a 51-year-old man was robbed at around 4:57 am near 510 Avenue of the Americas. Two men approached him while he was making a delivery, brandished a firearm, and demanded his property. The robbers took the man’s cell phone and $1,120 before escaping in a SUV. The victim also declined medical attention at the scene.

Descriptions provided by the victims indicate two of the men involved are slim and between 5’10” to 6’ tall, while the third man is of the same height but has a heavier build. The SUV used in two of the robberies is a gray Honda HRV, while a red Acura TLX four-door sedan was used in the other robbery.
