Shooting in Cumberland Leaves 68-year-old Man Injured

CUMBERLAND, MD – On Wednesday, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a disturbance on Milton Place and later discovered a 68-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound on the 400 block of Baltimore Avenue.

An altercation took place on Milton Place, during which a shot was fired. The 68-year-old victim and other occupants reported that he was shot during the altercation. The man was treated on the scene and later transported to UPMC, where he is listed in stable condition. A female passenger was also transported to the hospital for an unrelated medical issue.

The suspected shooter, a 29-year-old male, was found in the area and taken into custody. Detectives from the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit are investigating this case, and criminal charges are pending review by the States Attorney’s Office.
