79-year-old man arrested for attempted child abduction at NJ Wawa

MAURICE RIVER TWP, NJ – The New Jersey State Police initiated an investigation into an unsettling incident that occurred at the Wawa convenience store situated at 3904 NJ-47.

According to reports, on that day, a male suspect entered the store and approached a seven-year-old child, allegedly attempting to entice the child into his vehicle by offering candy.

Furthermore, it is alleged that during the interaction, the suspect forcefully grabbed the child’s arm.


On Thursday, Thomas Cannon, a 79-year-old resident of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody in connection with the ongoing investigation. Cannon has been charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, classified as a third-degree offense.
