WESTFIELD, NJ – The Westfield Police Department has reported a marked increase in attempted vehicle thefts and burglaries, apparently to steal key fobs to vehicles. Instances have been reported during both early morning and daylight hours.

Several attempts were reported last weekend on the 10 block of Dickson Drive and the 700 block of Radley Road. Two stolen vehicles were located by officers in residential neighborhoods over the weekend. Officers attempted to stop the vehicles, but pursuits were terminated due to the high level of danger presented.

The department reminds residents to lock their vehicles and homes and to report suspicious activity immediately via 911.
