Moped bandits strike in Midtown

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Moped-based snatch and grab thefts are on the rise on New York City and this week; police reported another incident. This time, it was in Midtown Manhattan.

The New York City Police Department seeks the public’s help to identify two individuals involved in a robbery incident. The event took place on Friday, at approximately 6:10 pm, at 48 West 48th Street, in the Midtown North Precinct.

A 47-year-old male was standing on the sidewalk when two men on a moped approached him from behind. They forcibly removed his gold chain, leading to him falling to the ground. The two men then sped westbound on 48th Street, leaving with the stolen jewelry. The victim sustained minor injuries to his arm. The suspects are described as males, approximately 5’9″-5’10” tall, weighing around 140-150 lbs.
