Residential Fire Under Investigation in North Plainfield

NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. – A residential fire that broke out on Mountain Avenue is currently under investigation by Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

According to Prosecutor McDonald, the North Plainfield Fire Department and North Plainfield Police received a 9-1-1 call on Sunday, at approximately 3:12 a.m. Additional fire companies from the neighboring regions of Bridgewater/Finderne, Bound Brook, Green Brook, Watchung, Warren, Plainfield, and South Plainfield also joined efforts to extinguish the residential fire.

Two male residents who sustained injuries due to the fire were provided immediate medical assistance and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Currently, one of the residents is in critical condition.


The fire investigation, conducted by North Plainfield Police, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fire Investigation Unit, and North Plainfield Fire Officials, is ongoing. The initial assessment has classified the fire as non-suspicious.
