CECILE CO, MD – A structure fire broke out early this morning at 785 Firetower Road in Colora, Cecil County, affecting a 50′ x 100′ barn owned by Kilby Farms LLC. The incident, classified as a structure fire, resulted in an estimated loss of $250,000. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities in connection with the incident.

The fire, which required the response of emergency services, occurred at the aforementioned location. The structure, lacking smoke alarms and fire alarm/sprinkler systems, suffered extensive damage as a result.

The Community Fire Company of Rising Sun was the primary responding fire department, with approximately 50 firefighters on the scene. Two alarms were raised to summon additional personnel and resources to combat the blaze effectively.

Firefighters swiftly worked to gain control of the fire, successfully extinguishing the flames within one hour of their arrival at the scene. Their efforts were instrumental in preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring structures or causing further damage.

An employee at Kilby Farms LLC discovered the fire and immediately reported it to emergency services. The precise area of origin within the barn is currently under investigation. Fire investigators are working diligently to determine the preliminary cause of the fire, examining potential factors that may have contributed to the incident.
