CALVERT COUNTY, MD – Maryland State Police troopers from the JFK Highway Barrack and Prince Frederick Barrack “U” conducted targeted work zone safety initiatives in Harford County and Calvert County, respectively. The operations were aimed at curbing violations and promoting safety on the road. As a result, a total of 70 warnings and citations were issued for offenses such as speeding, cell phone use, and violations of the “Move Over” law.

Troopers from the JFK Highway Barrack focused their efforts on I-95 in Harford County, while troopers from the Prince Frederick Barrack “U” concentrated on MD Route 4 in Calvert County. These strategic initiatives aimed to increase awareness and enforce compliance with traffic regulations within work zones, where the risk of accidents is heightened.

Motorists were reminded of the importance of slowing down and remaining vigilant when traveling through work zones. According to Maryland law, if drivers encounter a stopped, standing, or parked vehicle that displays warning signals, they are required to either slow down or move over to an adjacent lane, whenever it is safe to do so.
