Candy Company Director Sentenced to 18 Months for Health Care Fraud

CAMDEN, N.J. – Nicholas Tedesco, a retail director for a local candy company, was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Thursday for submitting fraudulent claims to New Jersey state health benefits programs, defrauding them of over $2 million. The sentencing was announced by Attorney for the United States, Vikas Khanna.

Tedesco, 49, of Linwood, New Jersey, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud. The sentencing was carried out by U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler in the Camden federal court on Thursday.

Judge Kugler also imposed a three-year supervised release on Tedesco. As part of the plea agreement, he must forfeit $782,767 in criminal proceeds and pay restitution of $2.04 million.
