Armed Robbery in New Castle Under Investigation

NEW CASTLE, DE – The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery incident that took place in the early morning of Tuesday, in the parking lot of Wells Fargo located at 1501 N Dupont Highway.

At approximately 2:45 a.m., a yet-to-be-identified suspect approached a 52-year-old man, displayed a firearm, and demanded money while threatening to shoot the victim. After the victim complied, the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Despite the efforts by responding troopers, the suspect was not located in the surrounding area.

The 52-year-old victim was not injured during the incident. The suspect is described as a young black male dressed in dark clothing. Surveillance images and video are currently unavailable.

The Troop 2 Robbery Unit is handling the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective R. Kirchenbauer at 302-365-8428.
