SECAUCUS, NJ – A significant bust by the Secaucus Police Anti-Crime Unit led to three arrests on Saturday.
The arrests followed the observation of a suspected drug transaction near the Extended Stay Hotel on 1 Meadowlands Parkway at around 10:20 am. An ensuing stop of a 2009 Infiniti G37 associated with the transaction unearthed both drugs and firearms.
In the vehicle, detectives found a digital scale and Ruben Rodriguez, 36, of Jersey City with more than $2,300 in cash. A K-9 unit named Brix confirmed the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
Rodriguez and passenger Diane Rodrigues, 31, of Elizabeth were arrested. Rodrigues was found with cocaine and more than $400 in cash.
A search of the vehicle yielded suspected heroin, a Taurus 9mm handgun, a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 caliber handgun, a loaded handgun magazine, and a loaded high-capacity magazine. Further search in a hotel room associated with Rodriguez and Rodrigues led to more discoveries.
Over 35 bags of suspected heroin, an ounce of methamphetamine, cocaine, and evidence indicative of illicit drug distribution were seized. Also in the room was Danny Rivera, 43, of Jersey City, who was then arrested.
Rodriguez and Rodrigues face multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute and money laundering, and were lodged in the Hudson County Jail. Rivera, charged with possession with intent to distribute, among other charges, was also detained.
