SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – Wilfredo Figueroa, a 29-year-old resident of Ridge, has admitted guilt to charges of First Degree Robbery and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the admission.

During the early hours of June 22, 2022, Figueroa shot a 27-year-old man in the face during a robbery. The victim, placed in a medically induced coma due to the severity of his injuries, was immediately transported to a local hospital. Figueroa fled the scene following the incident.

Later that day, police stopped Figueroa for a traffic violation. They found him in possession of two illegal loaded handguns, two high-capacity magazines, and personal items belonging to the victim.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed that the bullet fragment removed from the victim’s neck was fired from one of the handguns found in Figueroa’s vehicle.

On Tuesday, Figueroa admitted guilt before Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable John B. Collins. Figueroa is due back in court on September 5, where he is expected to be sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. Figueroa’s attorney is Steve Politi, Esq.
