MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – On Sunday, June 25, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office issued a public service announcement concerning elder financial abuse and fraud prevention.
Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, Morris County Sheriff James Gannon, and Morris County Adult Protective Services collaborated on the announcement.
The statement provides comprehensive guidelines to safeguard seniors from financial abuse. Elder abuse can take many forms, from emotional manipulation to physical harm.
Financial abuse is a pressing issue that affects millions of older Americans each year, often resulting in substantial emotional and financial distress.
Morris County residents are urged to be vigilant, regularly review their financial statements, sign up for bank account alerts, and safely store their financial materials. Residents are also encouraged to avail free annual credit reports to spot potential financial fraud.
