Congo Man Facing Unlawful Imprisonment Charge in New York

ERIE COUNTY, NY – Erie County District Attorney, John J. Flynn, announced the arraignment of Kindu Z. Jeancy, 22, originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

On Saturday evening, before Cheektowaga Town Court Justice John J. Wanat, Jeancy faced charges of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, inside a hotel room on the 600 block of Dingens Street, Cheektowaga. Jeancy allegedly subjected the victim to sexual contact without consent and physically restrained her.

Jeancy is scheduled to return for a felony hearing on Thursday, August 17, at 9:30 a.m. He has been detained without bail and could face up to 7 years in prison if convicted of the primary charge.

The Cheektowaga Police Department was recognized by DA Flynn for their investigative work.
