Thrive House in Clementon Opens to Fill Child and Family Mental Health Gap

by Charlie Dwyer

CLEMENTON, NJ – Thrive House will officially open its doors on September 23 at 2 p.m., marking a significant step toward addressing the shortage of mental health resources for children and families in Clementon. Located at 223 Gibbsboro Rd., the new facility is an extension of The Thrive Network, which has been operational since 2013.

Lorenzo McFadden, Co-Founder of Thrive House, announced that the opening event will feature refreshments, free merchandise, and presentations focusing on the organization’s work with traumatized children and how the community can access their services. “We also collect for the local food pantry,” McFadden added.

Elected officials such as Clementon Mayor Thomas Weaver, borough council members, and representatives from various social service agencies will attend the opening. Other notable attendees include David Spector, Chairman of the Board for the Community Planning and Advocacy Council, Kimberly Rommen, President of American Training Center, and Robert McFadden, CEO of People for People.

Thrive House operates with a staff of 60 mental health and medical professionals, offering support to children and families experiencing distress. The facility complements The Thrive Network’s existing locations in Cherry Hill and Egg Harbor Township, divisions in Sicklerville and Camden, and contracted services throughout New Jersey.

“We also partner with schools and bring our services on-site,” stated McFadden.

The Thrive Network provides a broad spectrum of services, including couples counseling, family therapy, diagnostic assessments, and parent coaching. Telemedicine services are also available for all age groups. As one of the few organizations in the area accepting Medicaid, Thrive House aims to be accessible to all community members.

Both McFadden and co-founder L. Michelle Codington have been invited by Christine Norbut Beyer, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, to consult on addressing the mental health needs of children eight years old and younger. Codington, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, brings 20 years of experience in counseling, mediation, leadership, and consulting.
