Suspect Sought in Newark Gas Station Armed Robbery

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Public Safety Director, Fritz G. Fragé, is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect involved in a business robbery last Friday.

At around 6:30 a.m., police responded to a call at the BP Gas Station in the 500 block of Springfield Avenue.

The suspect entered the mini-mart, gestured at his waistband to indicate he was armed, and took $365.00 from the register.

He then fled north on South 14th Street towards West Side Park. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with light stains, dark-colored jeans, and dress shoes.

The Newark Police Department is actively investigating the incident. Director Fragé asked anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
