NEW YORK, NY – A New York judge has mandated the state to reimburse the National Rifle Association (NRA) $447,700.82 for legal fees. The order follows a landmark ruling by the Supreme Court that deemed a New York public carry licensing law unconstitutional.
The case, New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, involved the NRA as a key party. The Supreme Court decision, issued last summer, established that carrying a pistol in public is a constitutional right protected by the Second Amendment.
Michael Jean, NRA’s Director of the Office of Litigation Counsel, highlighted the importance of the legal fee award. In a statement to Fox News Digital, he described the $447,700.82 award as a “pivotal victory” and evidence that “justice is definitively on our side.”
The ruling has notable implications, not only for the NRA but also for Second Amendment rights in general, emphasizing the constitutional debate surrounding public carry laws in the United States.
