FRANKLIN TWP., N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Maeweather have announced the arrests of Oscar Juarez-Perfecto, 18, and a 17-year-old Middlesex County juvenile in connection with a robbery in Franklin Township.
The incident occurred on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at around 1:24 p.m. The Franklin Township Police Department received a 911 call reporting an altercation involving two males in an SUV and another male on Claremont Road. The caller indicated that one male seemed to have a handgun. Police officers located and detained the suspects for investigation.
The investigation revealed that the juvenile, who was driving the SUV, approached a male on Claremont Road, brandished a handgun, and demanded the victim’s money and phone. Oscar Juarez-Perfecto, the passenger, also displayed a handgun. The suspects took a vape pen from the victim, who did not sustain injuries during the robbery. Detectives recovered the two handguns used in the crime.
Juarez-Perfecto and the juvenile were charged with 1st degree Robbery, 2nd degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and 2nd degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Juarez-Perfecto was held in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing. The juvenile was held in the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center pending a family court appearance.
