Bowie Man Wins $200,000 on Powerball Ticket

by Jessica Woods

BOWIE, MD — A Bowie resident and retired tech worker won a $200,000 third-tier Powerball prize. The Prince George’s County man, a regular Pick 3 player, decided to try his luck with Powerball after hearing it was ‘Powerball night’. He bought his ticket for the December 30 drawing at E&C Mid-Atlantic, located at 12300 Annapolis Road in Glenn Dale, and chose to add the Power Play multiplier for an additional $1.

The winner, who preferred to remain unnamed, said the idea of buying a Powerball ticket struck him when he overheard a conversation in the store. His decision paid off significantly. He realized his win while checking numbers at a Lottery retailer and confirmed it at home, where he found that he had matched four out of five numbers and the Powerball. Typically, this results in a $50,000 prize, but the Power Play option quadrupled his winnings to $200,000.

“I always purchase the Power Play,” he shared with a smile, explaining how it usually turns a small win into a slightly larger one. He never anticipated it increasing to $200,000. The lucky winner plans to use his winnings to pay bills and take a vacation with his wife.
