MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – After a distinguished 38-year career, Chief Marcus G. Jones has announced his retirement from the Montgomery County Department of Police, effective July 1.

Chief Jones has been a cornerstone of the department, known for his commitment to enhancing public safety and fostering community relationships.

Appointed as the 17th Police Chief in November 2019, Chief Jones’ career with the department began in September 1985. He has held various key positions, including Assistant Chief of the Investigative Services Bureau, Commander of the 3rd District, and Director of Major Crimes.

His memberships in prominent associations like the Major Cities Chief’s Association and the International Association Chiefs of Police reflect his broad influence in law enforcement.
