Stafford Township Police Arrest Man for Eluding Officer

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Stafford Township Police Department announced the arrest of Joseph Celauro, a 51-year-old resident of Eagleswood, NJ, on charges of eluding a law enforcement officer. The incident occurred on February 22, 2024, around 11:00 PM, when a patrol officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 South near McKinley Avenue.

The driver, later identified as Celauro, fled the scene in a 2016 Black Toyota Tacoma heading south on Route 9 as the officer approached the vehicle. Following an investigation by the Stafford Township Police Detective Bureau, Celauro was apprehended on February 26th.

Celauro was processed and released on a summons, with a future court appearance pending. The Stafford Township Police Department reminds the public that arrest photos are not released, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
