GAINESVILLE, FL – Deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Eastwood Meadows Apartments at 918 SE 44th Street, Gainesville, following reports of gunfire this afternoon around 4:30 p.m. Residents reported hearing shots and observed a dark-colored sedan near the mailboxes with an individual slumped inside.
Upon arrival, deputies found a male victim with gunshot wounds. Immediate life-saving efforts were initiated, and Alachua County Fire Rescue transported the victim to the hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information related to this incident and encourages anyone with knowledge of the shooting to come forward.
