SYRACUSE, NY – In a late-night operation on March 10, Syracuse Police apprehended 30-year-old Naquee Chavers for possession of a significant quantity of cocaine and an untraceable firearm. The incident unfolded around 11:58 p.m. when Officers Crowell and Solis, conducting a routine patrol on East Adams Street, noticed Chavers violating a traffic law.
Upon attempting to engage, Chavers attempted evasion but was promptly detained by the officers. In the course of the arrest, Chavers discarded a backpack which was found to contain over $2,200 in cash and a sizeable stash of cocaine weighing approximately 296.7 grams (over 10 ounces). The street value of the drugs is estimated to be around $29,670. Furthermore, a search near a vehicle where Chavers initially hid revealed a P80 9mm “Ghost gun,” a firearm without serial numbers, equipped with a loaded magazine and additional ammunition.
Chavers is now facing several felony charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first and third degrees, criminal possession of a weapon in the second and third degrees, and criminal possession of a firearm. He is currently held at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
