Police Seize Guns During Traffic Stop in Dover

by Law and Crime Report

DOVER, DE — A routine traffic stop in Dover resulted in felony gun charges for Robert Coombes, 22, of Dover, Delaware.

Delaware State Police conducted the stop on April 6th after spotting a white Volkswagen Jetta speeding on West Lebanon Road near South State Street around 5:57 p.m. The vehicle’s expired registration prompted the stop, during which the officer encountered driver Robert Coombes. Visible inside the vehicle were two black handgun magazines. Further investigation uncovered a concealed green Polymer 80 ghost gun under the driver’s seat, alongside 102 rounds of ammunition and three handgun magazines. Coombes was arrested without incident, with a check revealing he lacks a concealed carry permit.
