Bronx Teens Indicted for Subway Gang Related Shooting That Killed One and Injured Four

BRONX, NY – Three teenagers, aged 14, 15, and 16, have been indicted for their alleged involvement in a deadly subway shooting at Mount Eden Avenue station, resulting in one bystander’s death and injuries to four others, announced Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. The incident, characterized as a gang-related shootout, occurred during the evening rush hour on February 12, at approximately 4:35 PM.

The shootout involved two rival gangs, the Davidson Avenue Boys Mac Ballers and the Burnside Money Getters, where the defendants reportedly discharged at least 19 shots on the crowded 4-train platform. The violence led to the tragic death of 35-year-old Beltran Sanchez, who was shot in the chest, and left four other commuters with injuries to the face, arm, foot, and hand. One of the accused juveniles was also wounded in the incident.

The indicted teens, Langel Jones, 16, and two younger boys, face charges including second-degree Murder, second-degree Attempted Murder, first and second-degree Assault, first and second-degree Attempted Assault, first and second-degree Reckless Endangerment, and second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon. All have been arraigned and remanded, with court dates set for June 6, June 11, and July 30, 2024, before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Gayle Roberts.
