POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—A drug enforcement operation led by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has culminated in the arrest of a local man for allegedly dealing crack cocaine in Poughkeepsie.
Ronald Davis, 47, was arrested on Main Street on May 22 after the task force received multiple complaints about narcotics being sold between Hamilton and Clinton Streets. The complaints, which came from local residents and a City of Poughkeepsie official, prompted undercover agents to conduct purchases of cocaine from Davis on several occasions.
Following his arrest, a search warrant executed at Davis’s residence led to the seizure of a substantial amount of crack cocaine packaged for sale. He faces multiple charges, including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell in the Third Degree, a Class B felony.
Davis was arraigned at the City of Poughkeepsie Court and has been remanded to the Justice and Transition Center without bail. The investigation received support from the District Attorney’s Violent Crime and Dangerous Drug Bureau.
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office also issued a public warning about the dangers of cocaine, which is frequently laced with fentanyl, citing it as a leading cause of overdose deaths in the area. The Drug Task Force continues to address the community’s concerns about drug-related activities.
