Toms River Man Found Dead After Boat Runs Aground in Raritan Bay

RARITAN BAY, NJ — Kenneth Halvorsen Jr., a 53-year-old man from Toms River, was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive on a boat that had run aground in Raritan Bay, as confirmed by authorities on Tuesday.

The New Jersey State Police responded to a call at 1:53 p.m. on Monday, reporting an unresponsive individual aboard a vessel that was spotted traveling in circles near Sayreville. By the time troopers arrived, the boat had already run aground.

Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron stated that Halvorsen was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation by the authorities.
