Teen Arrested for Fatal Shooting in Baltimore

Baltimore, MD—The Baltimore Police Department announced the arrest of 18-year-old Jamal Smothers in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in the Eastern District.

On June 11, at approximately 4:22 p.m., Eastern District Detectives and Officers apprehended Smothers, who is believed to have shot and killed 19-year-old Deontay Towns in the 2600 block of Aisquith Street. Smothers was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility and charged with first-degree murder and additional charges.

On the same day, patrol officers responded to the 2600 block of Aisquith Street to investigate a reported shooting. Upon arrival, they found an unidentified male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite medical efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at an area hospital at approximately 7:38 p.m.

Teen Arrested for Fatal Shooting in Baltimore

A short time later, a female victim sought treatment at an area hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Preliminary investigation revealed that both victims were in the 2600 block of Aisquith Street when they were shot.

The investigation remains ongoing; anyone with information is urged to contact the Baltimore Police Department.
