Two Chicago Teens Arrested for Aggravated Carjacking

Chicago, IL — Caleb Pettis, 18, and Asia Andrewin, 19, have been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking following their arrests by the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force on July 10, 2024, at 11:52 a.m. in the 5900 block of South Racine Avenue.

Two Chicago Teens Arrested for Aggravated Carjacking

Offender #1: Caleb Pettis, 18, of the 8200 block of South Green Street, faces multiple charges:

  • One felony count of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking with a Firearm
  • One felony count of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
  • One felony count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon in a Vehicle with a Loaded Firearm and No Firearm Concealed Carry Act (FCCA)

Offender #2: Asia Andrewin, 19, of the 0-100 block of West 110th Street, faces one felony count of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking with a Firearm.

Two Chicago Teens Arrested for Aggravated Carjacking

The arrests followed an incident where Pettis and Andrewin allegedly hijacked a vehicle at gunpoint from a 32-year-old woman in the 700 block of West 81st Place in the 6th District earlier in the day. Pettis is also charged in connection with a reckless discharge of a weapon that occurred later that morning in the 7000 block of South Dante Avenue in the 3rd District.

Both suspects are scheduled for a detention hearing on July 11, 2024, at 2600 South California Avenue. Further details on the case are currently unavailable.
