New Jersey is set for a soggy couple of days as the weather forecast predicts rain and thunderstorms across the state. Today, residents can expect showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 PM, followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms between 1 PM and 5 PM. The day will remain mostly cloudy with highs near 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Winds will be calm, turning southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. There’s a 70% chance of precipitation, with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible.

Tonight, the unsettled weather will continue with scattered showers and thunderstorms, mostly cloudy skies, and a low around 72 degrees. Winds will shift southwest around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation drops slightly to 30%, with new rainfall amounts less than a tenth of an inch, although higher amounts could occur in thunderstorms.

Thursday will see a similar pattern, with a chance of showers in the morning before 11 AM, then a mix of showers and thunderstorms until 2 PM. After 2 PM, showers are likely along with a possible thunderstorm. It will be mostly cloudy with a high near 85 degrees and light southwest winds around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation for Thursday stands at 60%, with rainfall amounts expected to be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, although, like Wednesday, higher amounts could occur during thunderstorms.

Thursday night, showers are likely, and a thunderstorm is possible before 8 PM. The skies will clear gradually, becoming mostly clear later in the night with a low around 67 degrees. Winds will shift northwest after midnight. The precipitation probability remains at 60%, with new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except possibly higher in thunderstorms.

Residents are advised to keep umbrellas handy and prepare for potential disruptions caused by the weather.
