Wilkes-Barre Man Arrested for Assault, Terroristic Threats in Domestic Dispute

WILKES-BARRE, Pa., — A Wilkes-Barre man is facing charges of assault and making terroristic threats following a domestic dispute late Saturday night. The incident occurred on August 17, 2024, at approximately 11:32 p.m. at a residence on North Grant Street.

Officers from the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a domestic altercation. Upon arrival, they made contact with the 37-year-old female victim, who reported that she had been involved in a verbal argument with the defendant, identified as 38-year-old Oscar Sosa, also of Wilkes-Barre.

The victim stated that the dispute began when she expressed her desire to leave the residence to attend a party. During the altercation, Sosa allegedly escalated the situation by placing a knife against her neck and threatening to kill her.

Sosa was taken into custody by responding officers and transported to City Headquarters for processing and arraignment. He is expected to face charges of assault and terroristic threats.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence related to the incident.
