Henderson County opens emergency shelter for residents displaced by Hurricane Helene

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – An emergency shelter has been opened at Edneyville Elementary School for Henderson County residents displaced by Hurricane Helene, local officials announced Friday.

The shelter, located at 2875 Pace Road, offers bathroom facilities, hot meals, and accommodations for pets. However, it is not equipped to provide care for individuals with significant medical needs, including those who are oxygen-dependent, require dialysis or ventilators, or need assistance with daily activities such as eating or bathing.

Officials are working to secure appropriate locations to accommodate residents requiring intensive medical support. Residents in need of shelter are encouraged to go to Edneyville Elementary.
