Wheelchair-bound woman killed in hit-and-run on Reservoir Drive

PHILADELPHIA — A woman in a wheelchair was killed early Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run collision on Reservoir Drive, police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:46 a.m. in the 2200 block of Reservoir Drive. Preliminary investigations indicate that an unidentified vehicle, possibly silver, struck the woman and fled the scene. The vehicle’s direction of travel remains unclear.

The impact of the collision was severe, authorities said. The woman was thrown to the south side of the block, while her wheelchair was found shattered on the opposite side. Philadelphia Fire Department Medic 25 responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead at 1:56 a.m.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is investigating the incident and working to identify the vehicle involved. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 215-684-3180 or call 911. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
