TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Andres Limon Varela, a 36-year-old man, was taken into custody in Ocean County on Friday and is being held without bail on charges of attempting to cause bodily injury, according to court records.
Varela was charged under New Jersey Statute 2C:12-1A(1), which involves knowingly or purposely attempting to cause bodily harm to another person. Authorities have classified the charge as a fourth-degree offense.
According to court documents, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) also issued an immigration detainer. The detainer, noted under complaint number 397230484, requests that Varela be held for federal immigration authorities.
